The textiles have to look good every day, for years between dock periods. We specialise in interior protection for ships: 49 vessels delivered for 18 shipping lines since 1995.
You're the ones who see the wear first, and who have to explain it when a guest complains. The lobby sofa with a dark shadow on the armrest. The carpet in the atrium where the walking lines are more visible than they should be. The bar where the bar stool never quite comes clean again. That's your reality, and you rarely have the time or the tools to fix it permanently during daily operations.
We plan the work around the ship's actual operation, not the other way round.
In practice, that means:
And the interior never gets a day off.
The passenger could have flown, but chose the ship because the journey is the experience — the restaurant, the lounge, the cabin, the hours between ports. Everything the passenger sees and touches in those days is the product.
A worn seat in a lounge isn't a detail on board. It's a review.
A hotel can close a floor. A cinema can close an auditorium. A ship can go into dock — but it costs more per day than anything else in the operation, and between dock periods thousands of guests on board expect an interior that looks the way it should, every single day.
That is why everything that can be done in service, is done in service.
Invisible, molecular protection around every fibre. Liquid, grease and dirt bead off instead of soaking in. Withstands salt air, condensation and UV. Lasts up to 5 years.
We come on board and reset the interiors during operation. Fibres are opened, salt and grease wash out, colours are refreshed. Best followed by re-impregnation.
Furniture too worn for deep cleaning and too good to discard, we restore. It comes back with fresh colours and a near-new look.
On several vessels we have delivered UpCycle®, restoration cleaning for interiors otherwise judged "finished".
As long as the textile surface is intact, we bring the interior back instead of replacing it. For a shipping line planning a refit, that is the difference between an interior line item and a maintenance line item.
This is what the cleaning and impregnation look like in practice — three short clips from technicians on the job.
Before and after treatment
Thorough deep cleaning
Protection that lasts
Maritime interiors are one of our specialist areas: 49 vessels delivered for 18 shipping lines over thirty years. The technicians who deliver interior protection for ships are certified to IICRC and WoolSafe standards, and you can read more about our textile protection and deep cleaning services.
For Cunard Line, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line, Viking Ocean and Viking River, Stena Line, DFDS, TUI Cruises, Silversea, Seabourn, SeaDream Yacht Club, Scenic, Windstar, Go Nordic Cruiseline, Star Cruises, Radisson Seven Seas, V-Ships and Birka, among others.
We are specified in before the ship is delivered. The strongest argument for a line building new.
We slot into planned dock periods and refit planning, at a fixed unit price.
We work while the ship sails. The claim we use most — here is the proof.
Real treatments from our cruise projects, from buffet to cabin.
On a newbuild, every textile is completely clean and completely vulnerable. On a ship in service, the same vulnerability returns after every deep clean. We wrap an invisible, molecular protection around every fibre, so liquid, grease and dirt bead off instead of soaking in.
When the lobby sofa has seen better days, or the atrium carpet has lost its colour, we come on board and reset. The fibres are opened, salt and grease are washed out, and the colours are refreshed — as close to new as physically possible, without taking the ship out of service.
The greatest value lies in the predictability. We sign fleet-wide framework agreements, deliver documentation per ship, and train the crew in daily stain handling. That makes textile protection part of how the fleet is run, not a service ordered ad hoc.
You are not buying cleaning — you are buying lifespan for the interior
The right maintenance is the difference between a mid-life recover in year 8, or running the same textile to year 15.
That is the difference between an operating cost and an investment.
Drag the slider to see how textiles and furniture can take on a cleaner, better-kept look after treatment.
Carpets in atriums, corridors and public areas quickly show the effects of traffic, the salt air and round-the-clock operation. Thorough cleaning combined with protection makes them easier for the crew to maintain.
Leather needs the right treatment to stay looking good over time. We treat leather furniture with dedicated formulas that preserve and extend the life of your leather interiors.
We restore the chair to as close to new condition as possible, while protecting it against future stains and damage.
If this needs to go to finance, here is the argument — short, clear and ready to send.
There is an important accounting difference between the two services we deliver, and that difference directly affects how the cost can be treated in your budget.
Impregnation gives the seat, the sofa or the carpet on board a property it did not have before. An untreated surface has no protection against liquid and dirt. After Fiber ProTector treatment, that same surface has a new and lasting property: liquid beads off, dirt does not soak in, and the textile's lifespan is extended by up to 50% — provided the maintenance programme is followed.
In accounting terms this is a capital improvement, not maintenance. Under current accounting principles and generally accepted accounting practice, such improvements can be capitalised and depreciated.
Deep cleaning on its own, by contrast, is maintenance. Deep cleaning restores a condition that existed before, and must as a rule be expensed directly as an operating cost.
| Deep cleaning only | Deep cleaning + impregnation | |
|---|---|---|
| Accounting treatment | Operating cost (maintenance) | Capital improvement (can be capitalised) |
| Impact on the operating budget | Full cost in year 1 | Spread across the depreciation period |
| Effect on textile lifespan | No lasting extension | Up to 50% longer + framework agreement |
| Need for re-treatment | Annually or more often | Every 3–5 years |
| Life-cycle cost (LCC) over the ship's lifetime | Higher | Lower |
| Refit budget (interior replacement) | Predictably high | Significantly reduced |
The final accounting assessment is made by your organisation's own finance department, in line with applicable accounting legislation and the relevant rules for your sector.
Stains come off with warm water and a cloth, no chemicals needed. Daily cleaning is up to 50% faster.
Less build-up of dust and particles in the fibres, and less strain on the ventilation system.
Reduced sun fading and colour loss over time. Colours stay fresh, even in rooms with plenty of daylight.
Reduced surface friction means less fibre breakdown from daily use and cleaning.
Up to 50% longer lifespan for textiles and carpets. The need for deep cleaning is postponed by up to 75%.
Water-based and PFAS-free. WoolSafe Approved, BREEAM Exemplary and Nordic Swan Ecolabelled cleaning product.
Verified by Eurofins and documented in five countries. Ready for international inspections.
We assess the scope and usage patterns — on board where practical, or via drawings and documentation in advance.
We adapt to the ship's schedule, not the other way round. On board during crossings, at the quay between calls, or in dock.
Experienced technicians with equipment dimensioned for the marine environment. We travel internationally and work with local partners where needed.
A treatment report per ship and per area. We train the crew in daily stain handling — warm water and a cloth, no chemicals.
A ship can’t take three days off for maintenance. We work during operation, at the quay between calls, or in dock — on newbuilds or ships in service. Framework agreements cover the whole fleet at a fixed unit price wherever the vessel is, and the crew is trained in daily stain handling before we leave.

The investment that we have made in Fiber ProTector's services has been returned in the extension of the lifespan of our interiors and finishes, and in the reduced workload for our crew.
